About Us

This website was created to better connect people to clear, accessible, and reliable information about the proposed data center project in Monterey Park and its potential impacts on surrounding communities.

SGV Progressive Action is supporting Monterey Park and neighboring city residents by helping amplify community concerns, coordinate collective action, and ensure that residents have the tools they need to participate meaningfully in local decision-making. This effort is led primarily by SGV Progressive Action volunteers, Monterey Park residents, and community members from across the San Gabriel Valley. We are compiling and translating key documents, breaking down technical reports, and sharing timely updates so that community members are not forced to navigate a complex and opaque process on their own.

In addition to information-sharing, SGV Progressive Action is working to connect residents with one another and with partner organizations, subject-matter experts, and advocates across the region. This includes organizing teach-ins and public meetings, coordinating public comments and letters, and supporting residents who wish to speak at City Council meetings. Our role is not to speak over the community, but to help elevate resident voices and ensure concerns around public health, environmental impacts, energy use, water resources, land use, and long-term accountability are clearly documented and heard.

Ultimately, this effort is about transparency, community self-determination, and protecting the well-being of Monterey Park and the San Gabriel Valley. By centralizing information and coordinating action, we aim to support residents in advocating for a process that is thorough, inclusive, and rooted in the public interest.
